Designing E-Mobility

To proactively shape this transition, Knorr-Bremse has launched the eCUBATOR, the innovation unit for E-Mobility in February 2020. Here, Knorr-Bremse experts are taking an overarching systems approach to developing innovative and intelligent solutions for electrically driven commercial vehicles. In doing so, Knorr-Bremse is focusing both on adapting its existing product portfolio and on defining new product fields.

Open, bright, and communicative: The eCUBATOR division stands for an agile working environment, cross-functional teams and flat hierarchies. The team working for eCUBATOR comprises up to 60 experts at external locations in Munich and Budapest.

Inspiring Environment

The eCUBATOR bundles technical experience and interdisciplinary know-how and provides space for outside-the-box-thinking. It is designed to facilitate a fast and efficient response to any new challenges that arise. This setting will foster innovation and knowledge spillovers between cross-functional teams.

Hands-On & Agile

The eCUBATOR provides an inspiring, target-oriented working environment for creative minds with a hands-on mentality. The task of completely rethinking the subject of E-Mobility also means to change the view on working methods. This new way of thinking only works with new working methods. The eCUBATOR is especially designed for this, as the teams work with agile working methods, such as Scrum – just one example of the creative working methods being applied by our experts.

Team

We want to make E-Mobility for commercial vehicles sustainable by supplying safe, reliable systems that support the requirements of vehicle manufacturers with minimized CO2, noise and particle emissions.

Sonja Wimmer – Chief Operations Owner E-Mobility

In the eCUBATOR, we are working out the most probable scenarios of future drive topologies for commercial vehicles and explore what this means for a braking system or pneumatics. Partly, we are moving in a completely unoccupied field with this. We can act very freely and creatively, which I think is fantastic!

Matthias Seidenschwang – Chief Product Owner E-Mobility

The eCUBATOR in Budapest is not only a think tank - we also have our own workshop for prototypes. Here, we can act independently and work on future trends - in other words, just exactly what we engineers like!

Gábor Fojtyik – Department Lead & Scrum Master eCUBATOR Budapest

In the eCUBATOR, I can actively shape the future of fully electrified commercial vehicles together with a great team - an ideal place for the future of electro mobility!
